Today I’ll be showing you how to draw a betta fish. Betta fish are beautiful fish—also called Siamese fighting fish—that are known for their long, colorful fins and their aggressive nature. They also happen to look stunning in any aquarium. So let’s get going and learn how to make a beautiful betta fish drawing!
To get our betta fish started, we will first need to draw a large oval shape for his body, along with a small curved line near the front for the gill opening.
Next, draw a tiny circular eye with a small pupil in the center, and the bottom of the betta’s lip near the front of the head.
Next, draw the betta fish’s small fin sitting directly behind the gill slit.
Now we will need to give our betta fish his famous flowing fins! The easiest way to do this is to map out the general direction that the fins will be flowing in by using simple lines as shown in the image.
Following the general direction of the lines from the last step, draw the top, bottom, and tail fins of your betta fish.
Next, draw several thin lines running along the inside of each of the betta’s fins. This will help to give the fins a little more texture.
All that’s left to do now is to give your betta fish some color. Betta’s are famous for their bright and varied colors, so feel free to get creative. For this one I chose a violet body with magenta fins, but bettas come in literally every color under the rainbow so have fun!
