Today I’ll be showing you how to draw a squid. Squid are one of my favorite sea creatures! They’re super intelligent, and are masterful color shifters. So if you’d like to learn how to draw a squid, grab your pencils and let’s get started!
Step 1
To get our squid started, we will first need to draw a simple circle which will become the center-most part of the squid’s body.
Step 2
Next, draw a large cone shape on top of the circle from the last step. This cone shape will become the squid’s mantle– the place where most of its organs are stored!
Step 3
Next we will need to draw the squid’s large circular eye with a smaller circle inside for the pupil. Also, draw two tiny triangular shapes on each side of the squid’s mantle for the fin-like structures.
Step 4
Now we can begin drawing the squid’s tentacles. Draw one tentacle sticking out from each side of the squid’s head. The tentacles should be a little bit longer than the length of the mantle and head.
Step 5
Next, draw several more long, flowing tentacles, all roughly pointing in the same direction.
Step 6
All that’s left to do now is to give our squid a little color. Squid come in an endless variety of colors, and for this one, I chose a bright reddish magenta, but feel free to go with whatever you like!
I hope you enjoyed learning how to draw a squid with me! If you did be sure to stop back for plenty more tutorials. Happy drawing!
