Best Profitable Crafts to Sell For Extra Money

If you want to profit from doing something you love like making crafts, here are 11 most profitable crafts to sell for extra money. All of these project ideas can be sold online at Etsy, eBay, Amazon Handmade, local Facebook Yard Sale group pages, on your own website, craft fairs, or through social media.

Including a nice photo of your finished project on Pinterest can help you drive traffic to your sales page on Etsy, eBay, or your own blog or website. All are great DIY room decor ideas that will be of interest to potential buyers!

Easy Weekly Wipe-Off Menu Board

This is a great idea with so many variations you can make to sell. This is one of the most profitable crafts to sell because you can find all sorts of different picture frames for little money at thrift stores, Goodwill, on sale at retail stores, home consignment stores, eBay, freecycle.org or your local Facebook Yard Sale Group. You can even buy a multi-pack of frames like this #1 bestselling 8×10 multi photo frames set at Amazon.

There are also tons of different ways to decorate the background and lettering. Wallpaper or decorative paper work well as a background like these examples of scrapbook paper.

If you have a Cricut machine, you can cut out the title and days of the week lettering using vinyl. In addition to a menu board, you can use this idea to make chore charts, activity lists, daily to-do lists, and so many more different ideas!

Sheet Music Wall Art

My family is made up of a bunch of musicians so I really like this idea. I’ve actually made something similar with my great-aunt’s flute music inserted into an old wooden window frame.

If you make and sell this type of wall art for sale, you can also offer to insert your buyer’s favorite music if they send it to you (such as the music from a couple’s wedding song). Since you can find old music books at thrift stores, garage sales, freecycle.org, and Craigslist, this can become one of your most profitable crafts to sell! Or, an easier option is to go right to Etsy where there are thousands of listings for sheet music.

Hand-Painted Slates and Signs

I love hand-painted slates and signs for my garden and walkway. I switch them out every season. We get a lot of wind where our house sits and I’ve had slates fall and break on the ground. That being said, I purchase a lot of decorative slates to replace the damaged ones. Painters of garden slates and signs can do quite well selling their wares on Etsy and/or eBay.

Sometimes you can find distressed wood planks for free either locally or in people’s trash. You can also find blank wood signs on Amazon where you can also find chalkboard slate signs like this one which is all ready to paint. Also, don’t forget to seal your slate with a clear acrylic sealer in order to provide a permanent protective gloss coating that’s moisture resistant, and won’t yellow with age.

There are over 400,000 results on Etsy for the word “tutorial.” Sellers are offering tutorials for jewelry making, baking fancy cupcakes, wreath making, sewing items and so much more! Decoupage Birdhouses

It’s not difficult to learn how to decoupage birdhouses and sell them on Etsy or eBay. You can purchase unfinished birdhouses at large craft stores like Michaels (Don’t forget to use a coupon from your paper or a local flyer, or download Michael’s store app!), or Amazon-like this cute birdhouse.

Decoupage them with paper from old books, wrapping paper, wallpaper, napkins or posters. Give them a couple of coats of outdoor sealant (this one is my favorite) and you’re ready to make some money!

What I love about this idea is that there are so many different designs that can be used to decorate the birdhouses. Your creations can always look unique. I particularly love the vintage look and love these vintage paper napkin choices that can be used for a decoupage birdhouse project. You can head over to Garden-Art-Projects.com to follow a tutorial on how to decoupage.

I love the diaper wreath tutorial from Home Made Gifts Made Easy…and yes, people are selling their own version of these wreaths on Etsy! Add your own spin on it to make it your own. You don’t want to exactly copy someone else’s project. These would be great to sell at craft shows!
